Irghizite Tektite (Zhamanshinite)
Irghizite glass are small is an impactite glass Tektite found at the Zhamanshin crater in Kazakhstan(atitude: 48° 24' North, longitude: 60° 58' East). The formation of this crater has been dated to approximately 900,000 years ago as a result of a high velocity impact with an extraterrestrial body. The crater measures 13.5 kilometers (8 miles) in diameter. The elements Ni, Co. and Cr occur in irghizites at levels so much higher then the local rock that impact origin is without doubt. These glasses were formed as flows and are often vesiculated. Examination of vesicles has found the presence of organosilane and organosiloxane, compounds never before found in nature.
